In 1978 the Zimmerman brothers, Ron & Jerry, saw a definite need for a strong supplier to service the oil and gas industry markets. Thus was born Zimco Gauge & Valves Ltd.

In the early years, metric conversion was taking place and was a big factor in developing new market areas.

Zimco has been, from the beginning, a supplier to major control companies and fabricators as well as to a variety of industry users. Zimco warehouses one of the largest inventories in Alberta. Being an exclusive distributor for many product lines has enabled Zimco to better service its customers and provide for their specific needs.

Zimco has always had a close working relationship with engineering companies to obtain necessary approvals for application. As an added value Zimco offers a complete gauge repair and calibration service with minimal turnover times, as well as certification capabilities. Over the years, the company has seen its products utilized in projects throughout the world.

In 1990, Ron bought out his older brother Jerry, who retired to BC’s Okanagan Valley. Following this ownership change, Ron Zimmerman focused on obtaining new product lines geared toward the changes he could foresee happening in the industry. Other areas of concern at the time were the research and development, food and beverage, institution and education sectors.

In 1996, Zimco moved into its own premises, located in the heart of Calgary, allowing company personnel to service their customers in a more efficient manner.

Zimmerman emphasizes Zimco’s success is largely due to the enthusiasm, knowledge and service provided by his people-135 years of combines experience.

Zimco’s personnel are kept abreast of new services and product updates through factory training programs.
